Skeletons

A secret and long lasting part of ourselves. The skeleton holds the memory of our form the longest.

NEW! my little musings: Skeleton Party
***************

I have not always been fascinated with skeletons. They are a natural extension of my fascination with both biology and architecture. Regardless, I have now grown a full-fledged fetish over the matter of bones. I have a growing collection of skeletons and skulls that range from the campy to the utterly sincere. It involves graphics, comics, books, trinkets, resins, sculpture and furniture. I like things made out of bones as well as depictions of bones in all sorts of settings.

Bones and skeletons have appeared in several of my stories, including Bones of the Magus - a prose comic that chronicles the awakening of the remains of an alien prince, and Wings, where at one point, an angry Wizard magically removes the skeleton bone by bone from the still living body of the story's hero, Roy Derrick.

My quest for skeletons has taken me to some interesting places, and has given me a rather morbid reputation. I have often been questioned about being Goth. While I respect this creative and romantic lifestyle, and despite a lot of similarities in pursuits, I am not a celebrant of the Goth subculture. A coworker calls me not-a-Goth (meaning Goth in denial).

That said, if you want decent skeletal material, one of the best places to go are to Goth links. Here are a few I have enjoyed:

Aurora's Skeleton Closet - while this is basically a collection of gifs, it is a really cool collection of gifs, all dedicated to skeletons and other haunting stuff.

Doug T2's house of Skulls - Aside from some annoying pop up windows, this is a delightful site. There are lots of little bony things, gathered together for you, including books about skeletons etc.
