Comic related links:

Comicon - This is an on-line "comic book convention" whenever I think about the exhausting hours trolling around SF, Fantasy and Comic conventions for that single piece of whatever I needed in my life at the time, I breathe a sigh of relief that I have this convenient site to go to. Of specific concern to me are the publishers listed here, but there are a lot more elements to comicon than I have ever explored. Go nuts.

Beekeeper Cartoon Amusements - found this comic through a link on Scott McCloud's site. The shutterbug follies are addictive. I'm definitely hooked.

Piercing - this is another lead off McCloud's site, and another fantastic example of the incredible talent being displayed on-line and easily accessible.

Heavy Metal - yes this is the same as the magazine, and yes, it is fairly sexually graphic. My early education in comics (after Doonsbury from around age 7) was Heavy Metal, Epic, Conan and Vamprella (the magazine, not the rerun little pin-up content comic). They apparently are not looking for writers. Ah well.

Open Directory Comics: Publishers - while I'm sure the open Directory Project covers a lot more than comic book publishers, I have a rather focussed interest with them, and this is the only set of pages I bookmarked. Their list is not exhaustive, but it is substantial.

Directory for Comics - I have pretty much the same thing to say about this set of pages As I had for Open Directory. I'm fond of their indie stance, though. Yeah independent media.

Radio Programming/Stations/Org.s:

CHSR 97.9 FM - I am the Station Manager for CHSR. I started at the station in 1991 as a volunteer, became the Program Director in 92 and the Station Manager in 98. CHSR is a Community-Based Campus station. We have a mandate to provide training and access to the public airwaves for students of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University and the citizens of the Fredericton. We provide an alternative voice on the internet, as well. Last fall I started a new show on the station called "The Common Hearth". It's all about how the common people maintain a connection to the divine.

NCRA/ANREC - this national organization is the voice of Campus and Community radio in Canada. It's been growing for the past twenty years, and has recently established a national office in Montreal (been there, it's nice). I'm on the Board of Directors.

Spiritual Stuff:

Links to come. For now, go through my "Common Hearth" page. It has a list of web pages. The list I intend for here will include those, but will be much broader.

Research Tools:

Dictionaries - literally.

Behind The Name - If you don't care what your character's name is, you don't care about your character. If you don't care about your character, why should I care about their story?

Encyclopedia Mythica - although frequently unavailable, this site is a must-see for anyone interested in anything that might possibly have come down from almost any culture, anywhere in the world. It is easy to navigate, fairly complete, brief when it needs to be (for quick searches) and multi-linked with cross references. This site should be made available on space probes for the purpose of introducing the rest of the cosmos to us.

Libraries and Bibliographies on the Net - it is what it says it is.

Tradition, Folklore and Celebration of Culture:

Folklore and Mythology Electronic Texts - this could as easily fit under research tools, but I wouldn't want anyone to miss a really good read.

Cats, Health, Household:

ZeZeCats - this informative and friendly site offers much to us cat servants. It is easy to navigate and also to read.

Fiction & Creative (other than comics):

Gormenghast (BBC production of) - someday I have to read the novel. This gorgeous production has really smacked me in the face. The characters are incredible, the "world" is stunning and the plot is beautifully British. If you see this show advertised on any channel, for goodness sake, watch it!

Animation Express - animations of all sorts: funny, poignant, bizarre, sexy, stupid, friggin stupid, very funny. The site has categories for whatever animation software your computer possesses. I waste much time here. I want to be these people (the creators, certainly not most of the characters).

Brinkov.com - featuring the writing of per grinsom. This stuff really is as good as they say. I have been shown several volumes of per's musings and find them irresistible.

Net fiends and Net Friends:

Fear of the Dark - I stumbled onto this site while researching Bones Of The Magus. Of about a hundred I tripped through during the writing of that book, this is the site I found myself returning to. These people are not always nice; they are not all sane, but I like them.

Jim Cyr's home page - he's this guy; kind of funny; likes good comics. I worked with him at CHSR. He has a home page. He likes it when people go there.
