The Audio Technician is accountable to the Board of Directors through the Station Manager.The Audio Technician is responsible for maintaining and corrdinating the Sound System.

11. DIMENSIONS:
The Audio Technician will supervise the following:-

The Audio Technician is ultimately responsible for rental decisions, negotiating with clients, invoicing and collecting, and all repair claims against rentors.
The Audio Technician is responsible for sound system related budget expenses (excluding payroll).

12. NATURE AND SCOPE:

a. Environment of the position and functions or services provided:
CHSR FM is a campus/community radio station, administered by a full-time paid staff of three, part-time paid staff of two, grant staff of variable number and between 100 and 150 volunteer members drawn from the UNB-STU campus and the greater Fredericton Community. The Audio Technician position has flexible hours and is on call for rental requirements as needed.
b. Functions performed by the Audio Technician:
The Audio Technician is responsible for maintaining the station's studio and rental sound system.

C. Major challenges of the position:
As CHSR FM is primarily staffed by volunteers, the Audio Technician must be able to fulfil the duties of this post through the cooperation of volunteer membership as well as grant staff when available. This will require skills in developing and utilizing human resources, maintaining morale, delegating duties and effectively supervising such delegates.
The Audio Technician is expected to trouble shoot during events. S/he must also solve technical problems and have the ability to find alternate solutions to multiple problems during a crisis. These solutions are based on an overall knowledge of the medium, personnel or outside specialists available and of equipment functions.
D. Controls and accountability:
The Audio Technician's freedom of action is constrained by the Constitution, Mission Statement and other policies of CHSR FM. Though the Audio Technician is responsible to the Board of Directors through the Station Manager s/he must be capeable of working with the Executive Committee as representatives of the membership.
The Audio Technician is responsible for assisting in the development of the annual budget with specific focus on Sound System development and expenses.

13 SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Audio Technician's primary responsibility is to coordinate and maintain the Sound System for the use of CHSR FM and outside rentals.
Coordinating Sound System rentals:
Contacting, negotiating and finalizing agreements with renters.
The Audio Technician will maintain a booking system and keep records of rentals.
The Audio Technician is responsible for returning phone messages and meeting with walk-in clients.
The Audio technician is the only member of CHSR with the authority to guarantee a Sound System booking, and is ultimately responsible for any delegated authority in this matter.
The Audio Technician is responsible for invoicing clients for sound system rentals as per established station guidelines.
The Audio Technician is responsible for collecting fees from clients, including payment for the audio technical and DJ services.
The Audio technician, working within the price parameters established with the Station Manager, may negotiate all rental prices with clients.
Maintaining Sound System equipment:
The Audio Technician is responsible for regular equipment maintenance, including cleaning and repair.
The Audio Technician is responsible for ensuring the equipment is returned to the station in good condition, and for invoicing clients for any necessary repairs.
The Audio Technician is responsible for processing requests for capital purchases for the Sound System. Requests are to be filed with the Station Manager.
The Audio Technician supervises all paid and volunteer staff who use the Sound System.

Coordinating the Studio Equipment

The Audio Technician is responsible for maintenance of studio equipment, including:
ensuring regular cleaning and inspection of equipment is completed.
Maintaining an inventory database of studio equipment.
Maintaining files on equipment specifications and studio scematics.
14.QUALIFICATIONS:
Any candidate for the position of Audio Technician must have a minimum of two years broad based experience in Campus Community Radio or equivalent. Within community radio, or equivalent volunteer organisations, a candidate should have also demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities. As well, the candidate must have very good communication skills and an ability to work with, and guide, volunteer teams. Some Post secondary education experience, or equivalent, is also necessary.
