10. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Sales Representative is accountable to the Board of Directors under the direct supervision of the Station Manager.The Sales Representative is responsible for pursuing advertising clients and negotiating and entering sales contracts with clients on behalf of CHSR Broadcasting Inc. The Sales Representative is also responsible for ensuring that contract requirements are met in good faith by both signed clients and CHSR Broadcasting staff and volunteers.

The Sales Representative is responsible for advertising-related budget expenses. The Sales Representative is responsible for raising money through ad sales to the minimum requirements in the annual budget.

12. NATURE AND SCOPE:
a. Environment of the position and functions or services provided:
CHSR FM is a campus/community radio station, administered by a full time paid staff of two, part-time paid staff of variable number, and between 100 and 150 volunteer members drawn from the UNB-STU campus and the greater Fredericton Community. The Sales Representative position has hours which mainly correspond with the business day. The Sales Representative is expected, however, to make her/himself available to clients as needed within reason.
b. Functions performed by the Sales Representative:-
The Sales Representative will design and create sales material, including a rate card and any promotional back up material required to attract clients. -
The Sales Representative will make contact with new clients, follow up when necessary and meet with clients as needed for sales.-
The Sales Representative will write ad copy to the clients specifications, restricted by CRTC or other governmental regulations and CHSR policy.-
The Sales Representative will oversee production of the advertizement. Including technical and stylistic direction.-
The Sales Representative will ensure that the run-time information is provided to the Program Manager at a reasonable time for inclusion in the program logs. Failing that, the Sales Representative will list the ad information as per the log requirements.-
The Sales Representative will provide all pertinent information for invoicing to the Station Manager prior to the starting run date.
D. Controls and accountability:
The Sales Representative's freedom of action is constrained by the terms of the license, Mission Statement, Constitution, Advertising Policy and other policies of CHSR FM. Though the Sales Representative is responsible to the Board of Directors through the Station Manager s/he must work with the Executive Committee as representatives of the membership. The Sales Representative is answerable to the Advertizing Committee's decisions on specific clients and specific advertisements. The Advertizing Committee is an ad hoc body, called upon receipt by the Station Manager of any written complaint regarding advertizing.
The Sales Representative is responsible for assisting in the development of the annual budget with specific focus on the needs of the Advertizing dept.

E. Contacts:
The Sales Representative will normally be present at membership and Executive meetings.
The Sales Representative maintains weekly contact with the other paid staff at regular meetings, reporting changes, difficulties and new running ads. Similarly, necessary contact is maintained with applicable department heads to assist them in the development of ad copy and production.
The Sales Representative may attend meetings of the Board of Directors as an observer, and any committee or sub committee meeting in CHSR FM as observer.
14. QUALIFICATIONS:
Any candidate for the position of Sales Representative must have sales experience preferably in the area of broadcast sales, preferably in Campus Community Radio. As well, the candidate must have very good communication skills, including strong telephone presence, strong broadcast presence, and presentation skills. As well, the candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to write ad copy.
The qualified candidate will be outgoing and personable, highly motivated and self directed.
