12. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Promotions Manager is accountable to the Board of Directors under the direct supervision of the Station Manager. The Promotions Manager is responsible for developing and implementing fund raising events and activities. The Promotions Manager is responsible for pursuing promotional clients and negotiating and entering promotional contracts with clients on behalf of CHSR Broadcasting Inc. The Promotions Manager is also responsible for ensuring that contract requirements are met in good faith by both signed clients and CHSR Broadcasting Inc.'s staff and volunteers, and for the collection of donations to be processed by the Station Manager.

13. DIMENSIONS:
The Promotions Manager performs a management role in the area of fund raising, and therefore must have the ability to supervise volunteers involved in events and activities.
The Promotions Manager will supervise the following:-
Volunteers: variable
Security Volunteers
Set Up/Tear Down Volunteers
Sales Volunteers
Audio/Technical Volunteers
Voice Talent
The Promotions Manager is responsible for fund raising-related budget expenses. The Promotions Manager is responsible for raising money through a variety of activities, events and sales to the minimum requirements in the annual budget.

14. NATURE AND SCOPE:
a. Environment of the position and functions or services provided:
CHSR FM is a campus/community radio station, administered by a full-time paid staff of three, part-time paid staff of variable number, and between 100 and 150 volunteer members drawn from the UNB-STU campus and the greater Fredericton Community. The Promotions Manager position has hours which mainly correspond with the business day. S/He is expected, however, to make her/himself available to clients and for events as needed, within reason.
b.Functions performed by the Promotions Manager:
The Promotions Manager:-
will ensure the production of promotional material related to fund raising, including posters, public relations correspondence, press releases, audio productions and any promotional back up material required to attract clients or advertise events. -
Will develop, oversee or perform, and follow up on all advertising campaigns for broadcast or print advertising clients.-
Will assist in the development, promotion, and follow up involved in Sound System rentals as part of a committee with the Audio Technician and otehrs.-
will develop, oversee or perform, and follow up on all fundraising activities of CHSR.-
will make contact with new promotional clients, follow up when necessary and meet with clients as needed for promotional events.-
will oversee production of audio promotional campaigns, including technical and stylistic direction.-
will ensure that all promotional activity or event projects are reported within a reasonable time period for other staff and volunteers so that information promoting the event and volunteer coordination will be timely.-
will work with other staff members and volunteers from various departments to assure that the elements required for the promotion are available and the participants informed and trained.-
will provide all pertinent information for invoicing and expenses to the Station Manager prior to finalizing the event.

D. Controls and accountability:
The Promotions Manager's freedom of action is constrained by the terms of the license, Mission Statement, Constitution, Advertising Policy and other policies of CHSR FM. Though the Promotions Manager is responsible to the Board of Directors through the Station Manager s/he must work with the Executive Committee as representatives of the membership. The Promotions Manager is answerable to the Advertising Committee's decisions on specific clients and specific contra advertisements. The Advertising Committee is an ad hoc body, called upon receipt by the Station Manager of any written complaint regarding advertising.
The Promotions Manager is responsible for assisting in the development of the annual budget with specific focus on the needs of Fund Raising.

E. Contacts:
The Promotions Manager will normally be present at membership meetings.
The Promotions Manager will report in writing to the Executive Committee on a monthly basis, and may be required to attend Executive Committee meetings upon request from time to time.
The Promotions Manager maintains weekly contact with the other paid staff at regular meetings, reporting changes, difficulties and new promotional projects. Similarly, necessary contact is maintained with applicable department heads to assist them in fulfilling their obligations to promotions.
The Promotions Manager may attend meetings of the Board of Directors as an observer, and any committee or sub committee meeting in CHSR FM as an observer.
15. QUALIFICATIONS:
Any candidate for the position of Promotions Manager must have fund raising experience preferably in the area of broadcast and live entertainment, preferably in Campus Community Radio or on a university campus. As well, the candidate must have very good communication skills, including strong telephone presence, strong broadcast presence, and presentation skills. The candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to write, and create visual promotions. As well, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to supervise volunteers. Strong organisational skills are required, as well as an ability to meet concurrent deadlines.
The qualified candidate will be outgoing and personable, highly motivated and self directed.
